FrameSnap - Privacy Policy

        Summary: FrameSnap does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All video frame extraction and screenshot processing is performed entirely within your browser. No video content, browsing history, or personal information ever leaves your device.
    

1. Data Collection

FrameSnap does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information, browsing data, video content, or extracted frames. All video frame capture and processing is performed locally within your browser using the HTML5 Canvas API. No data is sent to any server.

2. What the Extension Accesses

When you use FrameSnap on a webpage containing video, the extension accesses the following elements of the currently active tab only:

Video elements on the current page (for frame extraction)
Page URL and title (for default filename generation)
Video playback state (current time, duration, dimensions)

All frame extraction is done via canvas.drawImage() directly from the video element at native resolution. Frames are processed and saved locally on your device — they are never uploaded anywhere.

3. Permissions Explained

FrameSnap requests the following Chrome permissions, all of which are actively used:

activeTab: To access the video element on the page you are currently viewing when you click the extension icon
downloads: To save extracted frames and screenshots to your local device
storage: To save your preferences (image format, quality, capture settings) locally
commands: To support keyboard shortcuts for quick capture

4. License Verification

If you purchase a Pro license, the extension sends a license key verification request to our Cloudflare Worker at:

https://framesnap-license.orangecc2025.workers.dev/verify

This request only includes the license key you enter. No video content, URL, browsing data, or personal information is sent. The verification server does not log or store request data.

5. Local Storage

FrameSnap uses chrome.storage.local to store:

Your Pro license key (for persistence across sessions)
Your preference settings (e.g., image format, quality, capture mode)
Keyboard shortcut configurations

This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to any server.

6. Third-Party Services

FrameSnap does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. There are no trackers, pixels, or analytics scripts in the extension.

7. Children's Privacy

FrameSnap does not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
