PageMarker Privacy Policy

🔒 TL;DR — Your Privacy is Protected

PageMarker stores all your data locally in your browser. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any of your data. No accounts. No tracking. No analytics.

1. Data Storage

All highlight data, annotations, tags, and settings are stored locally on your device using your browser's built-in storage mechanisms:

IndexedDB — Stores highlight text, positions, colors, annotations, and tags
chrome.storage.local — Stores extension settings, license status, and monthly highlight counter

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible by any third party.

2. Data We Collect

None. PageMarker does not collect any personal information, browsing history, or usage analytics. We do not use cookies, fingerprinting, or any form of tracking.

3. Network Requests

PageMarker makes network requests in only one scenario:

License Verification — When you enter a license key, we send the key to our verification server to validate it. No other data is transmitted during this process.

4. Permissions Explained

activeTab — Allows PageMarker to access the currently active tab when you click the extension icon, enabling text highlighting on that page.
scripting — Allows PageMarker to inject highlighting code into web pages on demand.
storage — Allows PageMarker to save your highlights and settings locally in your browser.
contextMenus — Adds right-click options for quick highlighting.

5. Third-Party Services

PageMarker does not integrate with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or social media. The only external communication is the optional license verification request described above.

6. Data Deletion

You can delete all your highlight data at any time by:

Using the "Clear Page" button in the extension popup to remove highlights from the current page
Uninstalling the extension, which removes all stored data from your browser

7. Children's Privacy

PageMarker does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected or transmitted, there is no risk to children's privacy.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and notify users through the extension's update notes.
