Overview

SpeedX Pro is a browser extension that lets you control video and audio playback speed on any website. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

TL;DR: All processing happens locally in your browser. We don't collect, store, or share your browsing data.

What Data We Collect

We collect very little data — and almost nothing personal.

1. Settings stored on your device

The extension stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API:

• Your preferred playback speed (global default)
• Per-site speed preferences (Pro feature, only if enabled)
• UI preferences (e.g., whether to show the floating panel)
• Your license key (if you purchase Pro)

This data never leaves your device. It stays in your browser's local storage.

2. License verification (Pro only)

When you activate a Pro license key, we send the key to our license verification server (websnap-license.orangecc2025.workers.dev) to check its validity.

We receive:

• Your license key (used only for verification)
• The product identifier ("speedx")

We do NOT receive your IP address, browsing history, or any personal information. The verification server runs on Cloudflare Workers with minimal logging.

3. What we do NOT collect

• 🚫 Your browsing history
• 🚫 The websites you visit
• 🚫 Video or audio content you watch/listen to
• 🚫 Your IP address (no analytics, no tracking)
• 🚫 Personal information (no sign-up, no account)
• 🚫 Cookies or tracking beacons

How We Use Permissions

SpeedX Pro requests the following Chrome permissions:

storage

Used to save your speed preferences and license key locally on your device.

activeTab

Used to detect video/audio elements on the currently active tab when you interact with the extension.

scripting

Used to inject speed control functionality into web pages so we can adjust playback rate.

commands

Used to provide keyboard shortcuts for speed control (Pro feature).

host_permissions: <all_urls>

Required to work on any website that has video or audio content. The extension only interacts with media elements — it does not read or collect page content.

Data Sharing

We do not share your data with anyone. There's nothing to share — we don't collect personal data in the first place.

Your Rights

Since we store almost no data about you, most privacy rights are automatically satisfied:

• Right to access: All your settings are in your browser's local storage.
• Right to deletion: Uninstall the extension, and all your data is deleted.
• Right to opt-out: No tracking to opt out of — we don't track you.

Children's Privacy

SpeedX Pro is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date.
