This Privacy Policy describes how VideoNote AI ("the Extension") handles your information when you use our Chrome browser extension. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your data remains under your complete control.

2. Data Storage

All data created and maintained by VideoNote AI is stored locally on your device using the browser's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This includes:

• Notes: Your timestamped notes, including text content, timestamps, and tags
• Screenshots: Video frame captures saved as base64-encoded images (Pro feature)
• Settings: Your preferences and configuration
• License Data: License verification status (Pro users only)

No data is transmitted to, stored on, or processed by any external server.

3. Data Collection

VideoNote AI does NOT collect, track, or transmit any of the following:

• Personal information or identifiers
• Browsing history or web activity
• Video watch history
• IP addresses or location data
• Analytics or usage statistics
• Cookie data or authentication tokens

4. Permissions Explained

activeTab

Used to access the currently active tab when you invoke the extension (via the toolbar icon or keyboard shortcut). This allows the extension to detect video elements and read the current playback timestamp on the page you are actively viewing. The extension only accesses tabs when you explicitly interact with it.

scripting

Used to inject the note-taking interface (content script) into video pages. This is necessary to detect video player elements on supported platforms (YouTube, Bilibili, Vimeo, Twitch, Dailymotion) and overlay the note panel UI within the page context.

storage

Used to persist your notes, settings, and license data locally within the browser. This ensures your data is available across browser sessions and remains on your device.

5. License Verification

When you enter a Pro license key, the Extension sends the key to our license verification service (websnap-license.orangecc2025.workers.dev/verify) to validate it. This communication:

• Only sends the license key and product identifier
• Does NOT send any personal data, browsing history, or note content
• Receives only a license validity status in response
• Is used solely for the purpose of verifying your purchase

6. Third-Party Services

VideoNote AI does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external communication is the optional license verification described above.

7. Data Deletion

To delete your data:

• Individual notes: Use the delete button on each note in the extension panel
• All data: Uninstall the extension from Chrome. All locally stored data will be automatically removed by the browser
• Manual clearing: You can also clear extension data via Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Site Data → search for the extension

8. Children's Privacy

VideoNote AI does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. Since all data is stored locally and no data is transmitted externally, the extension poses minimal privacy risk for users of all ages.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
