SmartClip does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All data — including clipped pages, notes, highlights, tags, and settings — is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB and chrome.storage.local).
SmartClip requests the following Chrome permissions, each serving a specific purpose:
When you enter a Pro license key, SmartClip sends a single verification request to our license server:

When you clip a page, SmartClip:

All your clipped content, annotations, and settings reside exclusively on your device. We cannot access, view, or retrieve your data because it is never transmitted to us. If you uninstall SmartClip, all local data will be removed with the extension.
Pro users can export all clips as JSON or HTML files at any time. This ensures you always own and control your data. Imported clips from Chrome Bookmarks or Pocket are processed locally without external transmission.
SmartClip does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since no data is collected, this is inherently satisfied.
