      TL;DR — SocialSplit collects zero data. Period.

      All content extraction and formatting happens locally in your browser. We have no servers processing your content, no analytics tracking your behavior, and no third-party data sharing. Your content stays yours.

1. Introduction

SocialSplit ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that extracts content from web pages and reformats it for various social media platforms. This Privacy Policy explains how SocialSplit handles user data.

This policy applies to all users of the SocialSplit Chrome extension, regardless of whether they use the free or Pro version.

2. Data We Collect

We do not collect any personal data. Specifically:

We do not collect browsing history or URLs you visit
We do not collect IP addresses, device information, or location data
We do not use cookies or any form of tracking

3. How the Extension Works

SocialSplit operates entirely within your browser:

Content Extraction: When you click the extension icon, a script runs locally in the active tab to extract text content. This data never leaves your browser.
Content Formatting: All reformatting logic (for Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) runs locally using JavaScript. No data is sent to any server.
Clipboard: Formatted content is copied to your local clipboard using the browser's native clipboard API.
License Verification: Pro users' license keys are verified against our license server solely for the purpose of validating the purchase. Only the license key (not your browsing data or content) is transmitted during this process.

4. Permissions Explained

`activeTab`	To access the content of the current tab only when you click the extension icon
`scripting`	To inject the content extraction script into the active tab on demand
`storage`	To locally store your Pro license key and verification status
`clipboardWrite`	To copy formatted content to your clipboard when you click "Copy"

We do not request <all_urls>, webRequest, history, tabs, or any other broad permissions. The extension only accesses the tab you're actively viewing when you click the icon.

5. License Verification

If you purchase SocialSplit Pro, your license key is verified against our license server at websnap-license.orangecc2025.workers.dev. During verification:

Only your license key and the product identifier are sent to the server
No browsing data, extracted content, or personal information is transmitted
Verification results are cached locally for 24 hours to minimize server requests
You can use the extension fully without a license (Free tier features)

6. Third-Party Services

SocialSplit does not use any third-party services for data collection, analytics, advertising, or tracking. The only external service used is:

License verification server — Pro license validation only (described in Section 5)
Gumroad — If you choose to purchase Pro, you will be redirected to Gumroad's checkout page, which is governed by Gumroad's Privacy Policy

7. Data Storage

The only data stored by SocialSplit is:

Your Pro license key (stored in Chrome's local storage, encrypted by the browser)
License verification timestamp (to avoid unnecessary server checks)

All of this data is stored locally on your device and can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's extension storage.

8. Children's Privacy

SocialSplit does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The extension does not have any features that would specifically appeal to children or collect data from them.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Since we don't collect any data or have user accounts, we cannot send direct notifications — we encourage you to periodically review this page for the latest information.
